Using Naltrexone Implants

What is the most important for doctors when using NTX implants:

First - To use an implant having the necessary analytical certificate. That guarantee the declaration on the product is adequate.
Second - a minimum percentage of reactions (allergic reaction) in a patient body after implantation of NTX implant. This properties enables only the top products, obtained by the latest production technology, composed of high purity substances.
Third - To have an adequate duration which is expected from the implant. Of course, the titer of naltrexone in the blood is the only and the most secure control of naltrexone presence. This is especially due to fact that the rate of the implant resorption is exclusively individual.

(It is known in the literature that a number of patients are found resistant to naltrexone (USA literature), which could be applied to NTX implant aslo. This, of course, should not be attached to a great significance, but should be received to knowledge).

Suspicion in naltrexone implant treatment :

As for the doctors - they need to know exactly what kind of implant they use and what that implant contains, as already explained above.

The reaction of patients, especially those who did not start the therapy willingly but under the different pressures (from parents, family, friends, etc.),could lead the therapy in two negative directions. Of course, both directions can create big problems to the doctors and raise suspicion in patient`s companions (parents, family, friends, etc.) :

Patient’s wish to re-take an opiate is huge, especially in patients who are not willingly on the therapy. Most of the patients who start with naltrexone implant terapy use the first opportunity to take an opiate and try a larger dose to "break" the naltrexone blockade. The desire many times overwhelm the reality and the patient becomes convinced that he "felt something".

When a doctor get this informtion , normally he starts to suspect on the effect of that implant.

Of course, in this situation, a doctor must be ready, and with quality information and evidence to dispute suspicion about his therapy. In this way patient understands that it’s just an illusion, not the reality, and that the only way is cooperation with the therapist.

Certain number of patients quickly realize that taking narcotics with NTX implant has no effect.

As they want at all cost, to return to the old way of life, they are using all kinds of deseption, which many times because of convincible acting, cause substantial problems.

For example: They will take drugs in the front of the family and act like opiate works, followed by the statement that the implant has "zero effect“ , that it should be discontinued and money taken back from „Dr. Fraudster ". Of course, in such cases should always be ready and including all the facts to prove the obvious fraud to patient’s family.

Such incidents usually occur in a case of individual therapy. At the group therapy that is not possible due to immediate reaction of the group.
