Introduction

Naltrexone belongs to a group of neuro-blockers (antagonists) of opiate receptors. It has very efficient effect (Naltrexone has the highest binding affinity to opiate centers at the CNS, compared to other substances that act on the same centers - such as heroin and other opium derivatives) and it’s presence in the body in a certain dose neutralize the effect of heroin or any other opiate.

This enables both the therapist and the patient easier and safer path to healing. Because of all this it’s very much appreciated in the treatment of opiate addiction. As a preparation, it has been implemented for decades all over the world, and used in the forms of tablets, capsules or solutions. How these forms of the drug are very quickly detected as a products with a lot of practical flaws (Irregularly taking, need for a constant escort or sponsor, allows patient to manipulate) the practice was tended to a form that will allow higher security in therapy.

Tests and implementation of implants began in America and Australia a few dozen years ago. Naltrexone Since then, ntx. implant was used across the world with great success. Until now there was no interest for the official registration of this form of naltrexone, (except in Russia , where license of our implant has been purchased and product registered under the name "prodetoxone"), and it’s manufactured as all other medicines in GMP approved factory. Probably, because of financial reasons and because of the particularities of the therapy ( i.e. the necessity for controling complete process by specialized experts ) market commercialization (sales in pharmacies) up to the level of registration has never been necessary. On the other hand, big pharmaceutical companies, see their interest exclusively through the products for substitution therapy.
